February 2011: Disclaimer - The ASA prevents practitioners from making claims to treatment of specific conditions. I wish to make it clear here, that I do not treat the disease in the person, but the person in disease, according to homeopathic principles as set down by Samuel Hahnemann. When patients come to me, they may have the below named conditions, but I am always addressing the needs of the patient and not of the disease.
Although I enjoy general practice and have experience working with people who have most conditions, there are a few that I have particular knowledge and experience in, all gained due to having worked with charities.
Depression and Anxiety:
I have worked extensively with patients who suffer from various forms of mental health problems, the vast number of whom suffer from depression and anxiety. Homeopathy helps, not only with these conditions, but with attendant problems including sleep and appetite, and helps the patient to cut down or eliminate medication. Most patients express a marked improvement in quality of life.
After 12 years working at a women's rape crisis and trauma centre, I have ample experience working with all things to do with women, from fibroids, PCOS, menopausal symptoms, infertility and period problems, to sexually transmitted diseases and trauma.
** I have also attended many births and have a birth package which can be made specific to your needs, from simple advice and support, to attending home births.
Children with Learning Difficulties:
These can range from ADD/ADHD to Dyslexia and Dyspraxia, Autism, and everything in between. I wrote my dissertation on how homeopathy can help, and have seen many children under my care improve greatly. Examples such as children with ADHD who don't sleep at night, wet the bed, are in constant trouble at school due to an inability to sit still and concentrate, children with Dyslexia who have difficulty reading, writing, understanding maths, children suffering with autism and aspergers, etc. All these families are under great stress, and I often work with more than one person in the family as a result. This can become necessary as the child improves, because their improvement changes the family dynamic, which can become stuck due to stress and habit. I have had great success with these cases.
Withdrawal from Medication:
Having worked with the NHS through GetWell UK (see links page to learn more), as well as with GP's through the clinic at the Women's Centre, I have years of experience in working with doctors to help cut down or withdraw from medication. If you and/or your GP feel you are taking too much medication, I am able to help. ** NOTE - never stop taking medication without consulting the person who prescribed it, whether your GP or a consultant. I am here to help, and so is your doctor. Always discuss your wish to discontinue meds., I have found most doctors are willing to have this discussion, if yours is not, try another doctor. You have the right to have this sort of discussion without fear of upsetting your doctor or being told off by them. Most doctors are there to help.
I worked for 3 years in an Alcohol Recovery Project(ARP), and many addicts found that, due to their addictive tendencies, they did not want to get into a cycle of becoming dependent on drugs prescribed by the doctor. This could be anything from antacids prescribed for heartburn as a withdrawal symptom - to sleeping tablets and antidepressants to help cope with their emotions after withdrawal. They found that homeopathy not only helped them with any illness, depression, or anxiety they had, it also helped them withdraw from alcohol and drugs with minimum suffering. They felt recovery was quick and it was easier to stay off the alcohol and/or drugs afterwards. As a generality, the relapse rate was approximately 3 out of 10, and of those, half would come back to homeopathy and try again. Where patients had relapsed, they still kept their appointments and took their homeopathic treatment because it contributed to their well being. One of the things they found most helpful about the homeopathic consultation was that they were not judged for having relapsed, as it was considered a part of their case, and this lack of being judged helped them to stay with their treatment.
